About

Tasha Ghouri is a British television personality, model, dancer, author and disability advocate who rose to national prominence after appearing on the eighth series of Love Island in 2022. Born Natasha Amber Ghouri on 11 August 1998 in Thirsk, North Yorkshire, she has become an influential public figure through her openness about living with hearing loss and her work promoting greater awareness and inclusion for the deaf community.

Born profoundly deaf, Ghouri received a cochlear implant just before her fifth birthday after initially communicating through British Sign Language. Throughout her childhood she underwent speech therapy while pursuing her passion for dance, beginning ballet lessons at the age of three before training professionally in commercial dance. Her determination to succeed in a highly competitive industry made her an inspiration to many young people with disabilities.

Before finding television fame, Tasha established herself as a successful fashion model and commercial dancer. She attracted widespread attention after modelling for major fashion brands while proudly wearing her cochlear implant, helping to increase disability representation within the fashion industry. She also appeared in music videos and advertising campaigns, proving that hearing loss need not be a barrier to a successful modelling career.

Ghouri became a household name through Love Island, where she and fellow contestant Andrew Le Page reached the final and finished in joint fourth place. During the series she spoke candidly about her deafness and the challenges she had faced growing up. Although she experienced online abuse related to her speech and hearing impairment, she used her platform to encourage kindness, educate audiences and advocate for greater understanding of the deaf community.

Following the programme, Tasha expanded her career into broadcasting, podcasting and publishing. She launched the podcast Superpowers with Tasha, which celebrates people living with disabilities and encourages open conversations about inclusion. She also published her debut novel, Hits Different, and became a global ambassador for DeafKidz International while supporting organisations such as the National Deaf Children’s Society and RNID. She has also worked as a brand ambassador for companies including eBay, L’Oréal Paris and Ann Summers.

In 2024, Ghouri reached an even wider audience as a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing, becoming only the second deaf celebrity to compete on the programme. Paired with professional dancer Aljaž Škorjanec, she impressed both judges and viewers with her technical ability and expressive performances, ultimately finishing as runner-up. Her participation highlighted the importance of accessibility in mainstream entertainment and further strengthened her reputation as a positive role model.

Today, Tasha Ghouri is recognised not only as a successful television personality but also as an influential campaigner for disability awareness. Through her work in television, fashion, writing and advocacy, she continues to inspire audiences by demonstrating that determination, confidence and authenticity can overcome barriers while encouraging greater representation and inclusion across the entertainment industry.
